New Blog

I've noticed that a former student who worked in our lab has started a blog called Pleion. Bjørn enjoys discussing evolution and politics, cannibalism, and teasing Americans for not being able to pronounce "Bjørn Østman". He was made for blogging because he likes to be provocative. If you do go over there, ignore the post on predictions for Obama's first term, or else you'll get the wrong idea about him. If you do read that post, make sure to click on the links [English] to help clarify the sarcasm.

Two people already sort of got offended by my prediction post. I don't get it. The sarcasm is gushing down the walls as far as I am concerned.

I think one difficulty is that it starts off with a paragraph of somewhat reasonable, non-sarcastic predictions: landslide in favor of Obama, democratic house and congress, etc.

Then the "raising taxes" seems reasonable, too, at first and in part at least.

So one doesn't have "sarcasm" or "parody" in mind from the beginning of the post. The gradual transition to extreme sarcasm makes it harder to detect, especially if reading very quickly.

At least that is my take.

I understand. And I love it!
